Sometimes, the practise of power under Macron has verged on the disciplinarian. His controversial alimony reform was forced through parliament without a vote in February 2020 (earlier the pandemic shelved its implementation). The citizens' assembly tasked 150 people chosen at random with putting forward proposals that could enable French republic to see its carbon commitments while taking social justice concerns into account. Their labours hatched 146 such proposals in the summer of 2020. Only critics charged that the proposals that the regime managed to interpret into policy were partial or watered down. For example, the associates pitched a ban on domestic flights whenever a train journeying under iv hours could serve in their identify.
